The Minister

From one of the few voice recordings of my Great Grandmother Claude:
The minister came in the other morning to visit with me a while and sitting there I realized I had no refreshments whatsoever to give him. But I did remember having some sweet milk.
So I asked him would he have a glass of milk and he said, "yes ma'am, I would enjoy it."
So I went in the dining room to fix it for him and found I had only a half of a glass. But I did have a pint of whiskey on the table so I just finished filling the glass with the whiskey.
And he drank it like he liked it very much.
When he had finished he said, "Mrs. Flinn, that’s the best milk I ever drank in my life! If that cow of yours ever finds a heifer calf, will you please give me first choice in buying it!"
From the mouth of Claude. From the mind of me.
